What readers may not understand, and I fell fowl of this before I became a writer, is how much work goes into writing one book. Can you tell us about your newest book?

I have just completed book #2 of a two part series called If You Only Knew. Book #1 is already out on Amazon. It tells the story of two people that are so right for each other that it would be wrong if they weren't together. There's only one catch, they're both married to their respective spouses... It's a slightly naughtier story of love, extra-marital affairs and two people who, under no circumstances, could stay away from each other. There are some steamy scenes, but the book doesn't rely solely on those scenes, still it is rated Over 18, due to the sexual scenes and the strong language. If You Only Knew: #2 will be released on 17 July, and as I mentioned before, If You Only Knew: #1 is already available at Amazon, in both paperback, and e-book format

Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

I think the most important thing is to never give up! Never let anyone make you feel like you can't do it, never let anyone discourage you, because in the end, not everyone is going to like what you write. Be true to yourself; write about what makes you happy, what inspires you, what stirs you from the inside. Readers can feel when a writer puts their soul into a novel, so do it! Also, it's a tough world, so perseverance is key, so keep writing!

Tell us a little about yourself?

Currently I live in central Wisconsin with my wife Nyki, our three kids, our little kitty Aimee, and our loveable dog Jaena (who tends to be the reaso...n I have so many all-night writing sessions since she likes to take up my ENTIRE side of the bed!). I've loved to write since I was a child, but a few years ago I decided to make writing more than just a hobby. I can't explain it any better than to say that writing has become my passion. It's not just a hobby for me. I love to write, and having readers take time out of their day and allow me to be their storyteller is such an honor, I cannot thank them enough. I have a trilogy of novels, my Exiled trilogy, which is a blend of modern day beliefs, mythology, and I suppose even some fantasy within it. It's always hard to describe them *laugh*. I also have a short collection of poetry, as well as a short recounting of how I came to be where I am today on Smashwords. But my main focus is the fantasy genre... magic and dragons type fantasy.


Tell us about your newest book?

Well, as I said before, my genre of choice is fantasy. My first book that really planted my feet in the genre is titled 'Province of a Thief.' Because my focus is going to that genre, Province is available exclusively through http://www.amazon.com/, as will be the follow-ups. I realized after I had finished Province that the world I had created, and the characters... well, I didn't want to say goodbye to them, to be honest. So I am currently editing the follow-up to Province, which I am hoping to get out sometime in July 2014.

As for this one, which is titled Darkness and Dragons, it is actually Volume I of what will be a two volume set. It takes places a few years after Province, and has many of the characters from that book making a return, as well as introducing new characters. The storyline behind D&D is that a new threat has risen up in the southern part of the world, and is bent on conquering the entire world. Dragons have returned to the world, and there seems to be no way to stop them.

Besides the threat of the dragons, there is a rebellion in the Province, dwarves and humans that must rekindle an old alliance, Shadow Walkers that must undertake their own seemingly impossible quest, amazing magical spells that are cast, stunning displays of swordplay... the list could go on

Darkness and Dragons is by far my biggest undertaking yet, and I'm really excited to have it so close to publication. I've been a bit lax lately on my Author page since I've been busy editing, but I try to keep updates coming at least once a week. You can find that here: www.facebook.com/saborgman. Any tips for aspiring writers?

I think the best advice I could give would be that first and foremost, believe in yourself. If you really want to write, then the only person that will ever stop you from doing it is yourself. Write with your heart as much as your head. And write for you. I think most of us can attest that as authors, we are probably more critical of our own work than anyone else. And remember: We're storytellers. We're entertainers. We're magicians that create images in our readers' minds using nothing more than words. Our sole purpose is to weave a story with words that brings out the emotions of the reader. I don't believe our job is easy... in fact, it's very difficult. But I think it's also one of the most rewarding jobs in the world.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Living in a small town in Oklahoma with my husband and two daughters, I spend my days enjoying the outdoors with my family and chasing around two horses, two goats, six chickens, a dog, and two cats. I live life on a farm, milking goats, collecting eggs, and cooking and baking from scratch. It's hectic, at times, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Growing up, I always wanted to write a novel. I never believed I could, though, so every time the desire flickered, I shoved the thought from my mind. Burying it deep down and ignoring it until one morning I awoke with the determination to finally follow my dream.

Can you tell us about your newest book?

My debut novel, The Woman on the Painted Horse released on Amazon from Soul Mate Publishing in March and is doing great. It's a historical romance set during the Civil War in 1861. My second novel, In the Land of Gold, is also to be released from Soul Mate Publishing, and is slated for a November release. It's another historical Romance set in 1897 during the Klondike Gold Rush. Currently, I'm working on finishing up my third novel, another historical romance, When the Black Roses Grow, set in 1692 during the Salem Witch Trials.

Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

Never give up. My first novel took me 4 1/2 years from the time I started outlining it until it was live on Amazon. I thought it was finished a total of 3 different times, and began submitting it only to get rejected time and time again. It would have been easy to just give up, but I didn't. I woke up at 4:30am every morning and just kept writing, revising, and editing. In total, I received 29 rejections and 5 contract offers.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am from a small town in West Virginia (USA) but have moved all throughout the United States in the past 15 years. I have always loved writing and... was involved with public speaking in 4-H as a kid as well as involved with my high school's Newspaper Staff. Along the way I have obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in which I worked Loss Prevention apprehending shoplifters for over 3 years. During this time I developed a real passion for educating teens on rash decision making pertaining to many different aspects of tough decisions teens go through as they transition from a child into a teen and then into a young adult. My hope is to help teens and young adults become more successful in life by relating my experiences throughout my life thus far as it pertains to ways I could have saved much money, time and stress.

Can you tell us about your newest book?

My newest book Rash Decision Making: Observe. Think. Proceed with Action. gives my readers a look at the rash decisions I made in my teenage years and in my younger adult that cost me 1000's of dollars and what I learned from those experiences to better my life. I share these experiences in hopes that others, especially young people will not make the same mistakes that I did. I believe education regardless the topic is a key to being successful in the world we live in today.

Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

My advice to aspiring writers is that writing a book or public speaking shouldn't be a method to getting rich quick, because most will not. If you write just for the money then you may be in the wrong profession. If you do write, write something that you are passionate about. Remember there are no dumb ideas. The only dumb idea you'll have is not putting your idea into play. As a writer keep your head high even through the hard times and believe in yourself. When you are confident about what you are writing about, others will see that confidence and be more open to see your work. Most of all when the going gets tough in this profession excuses will get you nowhere, keep your head up, keep moving forward and stay positive.

A story of Emily which is quite a lonely person, with no family ager the loss of her adoptive parents, no friends and being an only child. She hates her job and the rest of her life isn't that great either. However Emily wakes one morning in the 19th Century.


For someone who has gone back 200 years, i felt the character dealt with it just a tad too well. I feel she should of been more of a techno phobe as well as not liking people. Her use of old language was too sudden and she didn't get caught out using 21st century vocal.  Having said that, the book is written in the style of the Bronte's, Charles Darwin and Jane Austen, which gives the story more credibility and flows well. The use of descriptions is totally in per with 19th century  and the style of writing from then, but doesn't change when in 2012.


I did love this book and can't wait for the next book in the series. I do feel that people who like descriptive books will love every single page of this book.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am a Brazilian writer, who grew up living in different places, including Egypt, for six years. Two months ago I decided to publish m...y trilogy, written over ten years ago, mostly because my beta readers were putting pressure on me. I am also a professional translator and interpreter, and teach English to private students because I adore being a teacher.

Can you tell us about your newest book?

My trilogy is written in English and is now getting a Portuguese translation. It is about a family in a small town in Texas and the secrets they hide. A young woman gets caught up in their curse of death, ill-fated love triangles and tragedies when she arrives in town, trying to escape her husband, a mob boss. The book has been getting nothing but five-star reviews and enthusiastic fans, who are praising its real, sexy and violent plot and fresh, deep characters. I am developing a solid reader base and couldn't be happier about it. The first two volumes are out, and people are writing to me from different countries, asking for the last one.

Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

I think my only tip for them is to study- the changes in the publishing world and how new writers can benefit from them, the topics they are writing about, the language, the past and the future. And the old, but true cliché of believing in themselves, always.

I began writing when I was in grade school, and my first love was poetry. I read a lot of Maya Angelou and Emily Dickinson. In fact, durin...g a history lesson in 8th grade we were to dress as our favourite person from history, and I dressed as Emily Dickinson. I went on a long hiatus, and started writing again in 2012. Besides writing, I read a lot, having read over 70 books last year, and over 30 already this year. I’m always reading.

Pieces of it All is a New Adult Contemporary Romance with a twist. When many hear New Adult, they immediately think of books like Fifty Shades of Grey or Bared to You. While this book is a romance, you won’t find any whips or chains. The book is about Beth, a new high school graduate trying to figure out who she is, and Harvey, a recovering alcoholic attempting to put his life back together. Their two lives collide, and Beth learns about the type of person she is and strives to be, while Harvey has to make some choices about himself while coming to terms with a difficult past. I loved writing this book, and I think those that read it, will love it, too.

Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

This is advice given all the time, and it really rings true. Write. Just write. The only way to improve yourself is to keep practicing. Also, the only way you’ll ever finish writing a novel is to actual write the words. When I am having difficulty writing a scene, I write what I want to happen and move on. I can fix it in revisions. The first draft is for your eyes. Write whatever you need to finish it.

Almost as soon as I could write, I imagined stories and poems. After finishing my education in Germany and returning to my roots in Sri Lanka, I got a chance to turn my passion into my profession. Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

 

Sometimes I come across (aspiring) writers who are surprised that I read so much. That, in turn, surprises me, because I believe without reading, there’s no writing. My advice is that writers should read as much as they can – fiction and non-fiction, all the genres and literature types – because there is no limit to what you can learn from others.
