My name is Michelle Read and I have been interested in reading and writing all my life. As a child my ambition was to be a children's author and my favourite author was Roald Dahl. However, like most people, life got in the way and I pushed aside my dreams for a 9-5 job and the usual daily routines.
Two years ago I had an epiphany after waking up from an amazing dream. Desperate not to forget the details I decided to write my dream down. I thought it would just be a short story but 20 pages later I realised there may be more to it. And that's when I began my journey. In January 2012 I began writing my first novel, Long Lost, and pursuing a new exciting career.
In this blog I want to share with you my writing, my experiences in trying to get published and try to give encouragement to myself and others in the same position as myself. Before I embarked on this journey I had no idea what was required of me in this industry, so I hope to give you some insight into my trials and tribulations. I hope to grow as a writer and an individual through this blog.
I would encourage you to comment on any of my posts and share your experiences with me. Happy reading :)

hello Michelle, discovered you on Google today and read all about your determination to succeed as a writer. My sister and I are about one and a half steps ahead of you, as we have self published four books so far in our quest for recognition and it hasn't been easy. We didn't have a clue when we started and progress is slow, but we live in hopes! More power to your writing implement of choice, maybe we can touch base occasionally?
