I visited Jane Austen house in Chawton, Hampshire, in March 2013. This is where I got most of the inspiration for my book, Long Lost. Her house is so magical, literally stepping back in time. I was glad I went 'out of season' as the village... was so peaceful and pretty, just as I had imagined it (the car park was also easy to get into as it only holds around 30 cars!). I practically spent all day in the house and gardens, soaking up the atmosphere and imagining it when Jane lived there. By the time I got home I was pumped up and ready to throw myself into my writing! I took lots and lots of pictures to remind myself of every little detail, details I was hoping to convey in my own book. If you're a fan of Jane's I would thoroughly recommend you go there, it's definitely worth the trip.

My Journey. I started writing Long Lost in January 2012 and finished writing it in December 2012, and then the many long edits began. Naively after the first edit I sent my submission to ten agents. Unsurprisingly I received ten rejections. On editing for the second time I was horrified I had let my book go out to the world in such a state! In April 2013, after the second edit, I sent my submissio...ns to another ten agents. I received five rejections and have still to hear from the remaining half (something tells me I never will!). I then did third edit and sent submissions out to ten more agents in July 2013. To this date I have submitted to 44 agents and received 20 rejections and have still to hear from 24. Not great stats but hey, I keep plugging away. I'm about to delve into my forth edit...

For anyone new to my page, I am not currently published but hope to be soon. If you are interested in reading some of my book, Long Lost, you can find 16 chapters on the Authonomy Website. Please bear in mind that I'm about to jump into another edit of this book, so your reviews, tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Long Lost (1 of 3)
Emily Case is a lonely woman. No family, few friends, job she hates and is single. Life is one long struggle for her.

Then one morning she wakes up two hundred years in the past and her whole world is turned upside down, as she is faced with a new era she... knows nothing about. However she soon finds that she is falling for her new lifestyle, the people in it and even a gentleman or two.

When she realises this life is all she's ever wanted she is torn away from it and back to her life two hundred years into the future.

Not willing to accept that the twenty-first-century is where her destiny lies she endeavours to seek out the truth of the life she led in the nineteenth-century.

What will she discover on her journey? Was it reality or all just a dream?
